All,

Please review the attached proposed calendar. Please return additions/deletions/corrections by this coming Saturday midnight. Acceptable updates will be incorporated in the posted version. When I say “acceptable” updates, please limit them to the following:

  1. We missed a ride that we always do. We tried to ensure rides that had a leader from the last 3 years got included. There are some rides that show up in this year’s calendar more than once so we could substitute one for the other.
  2. There is an issue with the start area. For example, the start is at a school and the ride date conflicts with a school day or the ride start is at a parking area requiring a fee such as Beaver Lake of Clark Reservation.
  3. There is a route included that has a known or expected significant detour or construction that we should avoid. Also, if someone has a strong feeling a portion of a route is or has become less safe due to a change on the route or a change in traffic.
  4. In the case of a route ending up on the schedule more than once, while we tried to avoid scheduling the same route too close to it’s prior offering, it’s possible we missed one. The criteria was a minimum of two months between scheduling the same route.
  5. We tried to rotate the start location around but as the schedule filled up and we added what we felt were the most popular rides it may appear to favor one region or another. We may have bunched up a few over a short period but believe we balanced it over a longer period. If someone notes this we can try shifting rides around within limits.
  6. We tried to avoid scheduling challenging routes on both Saturday and Sunday the same weekend. We also tried to alternate the more challenging weekend rides between Saturday and Sunday.
  7. We tried to schedule the longest Wednesday night routes around the summer solstice. If someone notices a ride that may leave members out after dusk, we can try to shift those around.
  8. Any reasonable request not listed will be considered.

The ride calendar committee reserves the right to reject unwarranted requests or legitimate requests that may ripple into significant changes.

Thanks to Zeke Ronnow and Mark Wheeler for sitting down and hammering out a schedule. Also, thanks to Doug Bray for his support and patience in getting through this process.

Thanks,

Phil Dilmore
