Chuck,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you
who that would be Over the years we've contacted the Syracuse newspapers but they have had zero interest in anything to do with the race We can certainly contact the various media companies in the area I also know one of the professors up at Newhouse I'll ask if it's possible the race can be used for any of their media projects (posters, video, electronics media)
lots of races/categories for everyone (especially the ladies), but we end up with too many small categories and dead time throughout the day after combining fields As you say, we can build-in dead time at the end of the day in case we have a large number of registrations and want to break-out a few categories in to their own races
definitely want to include dinner on Saturday night That will give us a change to do awards, post standings, etc The trick is just finding a venue at/near a location that also has a good crit/TT course As you say, if we have a location we love, we can just have it catered A little later this month Mike and I are meeting with Onondaga Community College about the possibility of having the crit there
We can give heavy consideration to using the park and marcellus again
I also want to talk to the Cazenovia chamber of commerce
3-4 years ago
they expressed interest in holding a biking 'event' in town and with the
new Empire Brewing in Caz, that could be a good venue too
Thanks for the thoughts and I'll send a race update to everyone this weekend

Just some thoughts I have about the 2018 race I have been doing a lot of rides with only my Strava as a companion so lots of thoughts jump into my otherwise idle mind
1 We need a sponsor that we can get the race info through out to the public They would be a partner and not necessarily have any financial involvement
2 Condense the crit into a few categories Maybe put all the low number entry categories together in one race early Then do the same with the next group of racers so we might have 5 groups going off in the first race and 4 in the next This could the easily have been done this year What I am getting at, of course, is that we can always back up a start time and that way if we have an unusually large number of entries in one category we would give them a different start time or maybe combine them with the next race This way we all get done early
3 Have the TT after the crit and have a catered party at the venue
The Park is a turn key and Marcellus has repaved the entire road surface which was the biggest objection in the past If we go back to these two venues then we don’t have a drive and both have worked in the past
These are just some thoughts I had Whether we do it this way or not or make it a one day race is irrelevant to me Maybe there is a village that would welcome the crit and TT Who knows As long as we get enough racers to break even we can always maintain the event
