Nyraces,

You are welcome to join us tomorrow for the annual telecon. We will start off with a presentation on ideas to boost the number of riders/racers in NY and we really look forward to hearing your ideas. Agenda attached!

Details:

Telecon, 10am-2pm, Saturday, 31Jan16

Dial in: 1 (605) 475-5920 Participant code: 298-2449#

For those of you who routinely participate in large telecons, you know that it is difficult to keep things on track, to hear clearly, and give people a fair turn to speak. Please review (and follow!) the following guidelines on telecon etiquette we found on the Internet!

  • MUTE YOUR PHONE when you are not talking - especially if you are using a speaker phone!!
    • This is so important. Many phones produce an echo, especially if you are using a speakerphone or a (cheap) headset, and pick up a lot of extraneous sounds that you might not even notice (breathing, typing, coughing, throat-clearing, moving your coffee mug, children, colleagues, doors closing, etc. etc.) but when combined with 20 other people on the call can cause interruptions, block out the speaker, cause echos on the line and makes it especially difficult to understand people
  • Identify yourself when you speak. Just start with "This is ...". Not everyone knows your voice
  • Don't assume everyone knows what you are talking about (e.g., an issue specific to your part of the state). Frame up things you are discussing so everyone fully understands the context.
  • Be polite, respectful, and professional. We are all volunteers - we all have opinions, it is OK to have a different opinion.
  • Stay on topic. Do not allow the conversation to wonder off into the woods. Do not bring up secondary topics that are not germane to the topic being discussed. New topics can be brought up at the end of the agenda.
  • Call in on time. Things happen, but please be respectful of other's time and make every effort to be punctual when calling in.

Thank-you!
