I spent about half an hour today searching NYS criminal records for this individual and didn't find anything. I did see the listing in USA Cycling of his permanent ban for various “offenses” (you an be an offender in the view of a private organization but no have been convicted of anything criminal).
I’m going to presume that “anonymous” sent the letter to the club out of a concern for our members but since, as Don has noted, the named individual has not been a member or participated in club rides, it seems that we should not be pursuing any sort of “action” on this unless he does turn up on our radar. I have a concern that too much activity on the part of the club, absent any actual involvement with the club by the individual in question and any specific knowledge of the offenses for which he was banned, could subject the club (and the board members) to legal liability for defamation, even if the premise is correct.

From: chinedwin8x7@PROTECTED Should this be investigated by the authorities. Seems like a deeper motive is involved From: molly.english@PROTECTED A good friend of mine told me about this individual several years ago. He likes to “play the field,” shall we say, among his female disciples and many of these women become jealous because of perceived favoritism.
I don’t know if this riding/training group exists any more. If not, the above stated behavior as it pertains to this particular group is in the past.
Let’s say that what my friend told me is true: Does that make him a sexual predator? Is there proof of this?
Just putting it out there.

From: jpaulwede@PROTECTED I will document here my observations on what I have found in a cursory search:
There is no individual by this name on the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Level 1 (lowest risk) offenders are not required to register, but higher levels (2 and 3) are.
A search of the national Department of Justice sex offender registry displays no offenders by this name at the address provided (or in New York State).
It appears that this individual was sanctioned by the organizations listed, but we have very few details.
It is an anonymous allegation; making it impossible to determine the apparent motivation of the individual submitting such an allegation.
We will discuss this matter further at our next board meeting. Thank you.

I have no way to verify any details of the claim, other than what is listed in the SafeSport database. I checked ride sheets for the past 5 years and found no evidence that he has ridden with the club in that time, and no record of him as a member of the club in the past 10 years.
We should add this to the agenda for the next meeting to determine what action, if any, we should take.
