WHEELS FOR MEALS 2016
May 21, 2016
During 2015, The Southern Tier Bicycle League held several cycling events to raise awareness, for competition, just for fun and very importantly to raise money for Meals on Wheels.
The ride starts and finishes at the Meals on Wheels of Chemung County. The address is 150 Fox Street, Elmira, NY 14901

Come join us this year as we make this event a Poker Ride!
The courses are going to be fun! Each of the three routes overlap each other. If you put them together you will see. The courses go from short and easy to a little bit challenging.
Family Ride (short, easy, quick to do. A ride for absolutely anyone!)
The 24 miler ride (A very easy a little bit longer ride. Commonly called the Airport Ride.)
The 40 mile ride (A beautiful ride with some of the best views in the County!
There are a couple of tougher climbs, so it makes it a bit of a challenge.)
So, as you ride, on each course you will pick up playing cards.
(Family ride - 3 cards, 24 miler - 5 cards, 40 mile course, 7 cards).
This is not gambling! In each ride, we will just see who has the best hand.
The player with the best hand will get
the first prize, second highest - second prize, and third highest - third prize.
There are 3 different routes - for all ages.
At designated stops along the way you will pick up a card.
The best hand from each route will win a prize!

The 24 and 40 mile ride begin at 9 am. The 7 mile will start off at 9:30 am.
The rides will be supported by volunteers and our short wave radio team.

The Meals on Wheels is going through a major change! They have outgrown their small building at 150 Fox Street and moving to a building that will allow them to expand and serve the older adults in Chemung County for years and years. This include construction, new equipment, and many challenging advances. Our goal is that no Senior Goes Hungry.
The Southern Tier Bicycle League and the Chemung County Office of Aging and Long Term Care work with our Meals on Wheels. Can you help us to expand the program?
