Hi Everyone,
What a great night to ride last night. We had 45 members turn out along with 4 guests for a total of 49 riders. With four different rides and ride leaders we had a broad selection available to pick from. The very easy to the very challenging. The group rode a total of 697 miles…nice job!
As usual I led the canal route that covered 9 miles while Mark Perrin from The Bikery along with Dean Connery, Roland Pearson and Al Storrings oversaw the short all highway group that covered 10 miles. Mike Lyon had a group that followed a westerly route toward B’ville that covered 16 Miles and Tom Hotaling, who is back from his world travels, led an energetic group of experienced riders on a 24 mile jaunt. It was a fun night!
Some of you reading these weekly reports might ask…”is it all Slow ‘n Easy?”…Yes and No. We always have two routes that a definitely slow and easy: one on the canal path and highway and one all highway. It has been this way since we started these rides. As our riders progress in their skill levels they are looking for more of a challenge than our slow rides offer. That’s where our longer and faster rides come in. We usually have one route that is about +/- 15 miles and a second that is 22-25 miles. Both rides are faster and more challenging…definitely for more experience riders who want faster longer rides. As I said many times…we like to offer a variety of rides that our riders can choose from. Whatever you enjoy we try to provide in our ride choices. We still run these as “no drop” rides.
There was only one flat tire reported…me! Thanks to Mark Perrin who came out to pick me up and get my tire and tube repaired. I even got a chance to ride in The Bikery’s new ride truck…sweet wheels! We also had one of our experienced riders make a wrong turn but all ended well and she picked up a few more miles…but missed out on the cookiesL.
Thanks everyone for coming out…see you all next week…and bring a friend.
Ciao,
Tony
