Hi Everyone,
The next Slow ‘n Easy West ride scheduled for Tuesday June 14th departs from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM. Please arrive early so that you can sign in and be ready to leave on time.
The forecast for Tuesday calls for a “mostly sunny and pleasant” day with temperatures in the low 70s…no rain in that forecast. Sounds like it will be a nice night to ride
Are you still reading these emails and wanting to give the ride a try? Why not this Tuesday night? The weather should be nice…you just need to get the bike out of the garage or basement, get it ready and then motivate yourself to come out to Reed Webster Park around 5:30 PM. If you have not ridden in a long time and are not sure if you can do a ride, plan on coming out to ride on the canal loop which is about half canal path and half highway. The highway has nice wide shoulders. We travel at a very easy pace and I have had 80 year olds who have done it with no problem what so ever. It’s only around 10 miles long. So, just do it…come on out and surprise yourself.
The OCC Slow ‘n Easy (East or West) rides give people who have not ridden since their childhood days the means to revisit the sport in a safe, non-intimidating manner and with people who are always willing to help in sharing the fun. If you are a rider and have a friend who has talked about the days when they rode their bikes, why not forward this email to them and encourage them to come for the ride and then join them at the ride this Tuesday (or Thursday)? They’ll find a great group of people with similar interests and goals to ride with and a variety of ride levels that will fit their skills and ability. Mike and I welcome new or returning riders and look forward to their questions and interest in getting into the sport.
This ride is open to all members of the club as well as guests who have an interest in the sport. (Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership from 2015…you are not a member and must sign in as a guest.) Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer. If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year. Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season. Membership applications are available at rides or on line.
All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides. If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store. No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it. Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.
So, join us this Tuesday evening for the next S’nE West ride.

PS: The OCC is once again supporting its “buy a bike…get a free 2016 individual membership” promotion with all local bike shops. This offer only applies to bikes sold through recognized local bike shops. If you are new to cycling or just getting back into it and you decide to buy a new bike be sure to ask the shop about the offer. It has come to the club’s attention that not all shops are fully supporting the promotion. Please let us know if you have not been offered a free membership when you bought your bike at one of the shops. The offer is only open to people who have not been a member of the club previously…not good for renewals.
