Hi Everyone,

The next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for Tuesday July 5, 2016 and leaves from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM.  Please arrive early so that you can sign in and be ready to depart on time.

The forecast for Tuesday shows a high temperature of 85 with clouds.  This seems more typical of July weather so dress accordingly and bring ample water to stay hydrated.  Looks like the whole week will be warm with possible rain toward the weekend.  let’s enjoy summer while we have it.

For those who have been following this ride blog but have yet to give it a try, why not do it Tuesday evening?  So it seems hot and you would rather stay in the AC??? It is always cooler when you are riding on your bike…beats sitting around home sweltering.  It’s July already so the season is quickly going by.  Come out before the fun is over and the snow is back again. L

The  OCC Slow ‘n Easy (East or West) rides give people that are just getting into the sport or those who have not ridden in a number of years the means to try the sport in a safe, non-intimidating manner and with people who are always willing to help in sharing the fun.  The ride(s) offers a variety of route/ride options that have various skill and ability levels allowing us to better match rider experience levels so that there is something for everyone.  Why not give it a try? We have had plenty of riders over the last few weeks but none wanting to do the canal loop, so I will probably bring my road bike as well as the fitness bike so that I can do a road ride if there are no takers for the canal loop this week.  If you plan to do the canal, let me know.

This ride is open to all members of the club as well as guests who have an interest in the sport. (Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2016…you are not a member and must sign in as a guest.)  Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer.  If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year.  Our insurance only allows guests to ride once during the season.  Membership applications are available at rides or on line.

All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides.  If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store.  No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it.  Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.

So, join us this Tuesday evening for the next S’nE West ride.

    Where:  Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (parking lot on west end near tennis courts)

                                    When:    Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp;  sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM

                                    Bring:     Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride; with the warmer weather, you’ll want to stay hydrated

                                    Dress:    Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this

Mike Lyon and I will be there to answer your questions and lead the rides along with our other volunteer ride leaders.  As usual, we’ll have treats for after the ride.  Others are always welcome to bring post ride snacks to share.  Stick around after the ride and we’ll be happy to listen to your comments and suggestions as well as answer any questions you may have.

PPS: HELP! We are still in need of volunteers for the race weekend event on 7/8-9-10/16.  This is a large event and we need lots of help.  Volunteer on our website and work any of the activities and positions that you can.  We will also take any friends who want to see such an event.
