Well, since the ride leader and part-time meteorologist got there “not quite ready to ride” and he didn’t participate, I’ll fill you in on tonight's ride.
With the humidity hovering near 100% 6 of us decided conditions were fair and started out from Minoa toward the East into a bit of a headwind. We moved along at a good pace along Kirkville road, and ran into a few sprinkles along Poolsbrooke. We headed south into Mycenae and then up Gulf Road with sun peaking through the trees.
We regrouped at the top of Gulf road and Ed “Madman” Chin decided to do the full route and headed down to Chittenango, while 4 of us opted to “go towards the light” and headed straight on Palmer then down 173 to Cheese Factory Rd.
We stopped at one point to do our civic duty and clear some road debris, then got back on East Lake Rd, to Stanley and down to Rathbun. Our wheels squealed as the dew got rubbed off on the descent down Stanley.
Then it was up Lincklaen to Maple, then to Ridge and we made a change on the fly again, opting to head down Chard Rd, to East lake. Theo hammered out a great pace along East Lake and up Peth and down Peck Hill. We caught our breath then flew down S. Eagle Village & N Eagle village, and at that point, on dry roads, this rider then turned off on Duguid to head home as the rest went back on the regular route.
All in all a very nice night with no real rain to speak of. We did see a huge and very prominent rainbow as we went up Cheese Factory road, and at the bottom of Stanley we found the pot of gold. We split it 4 ways and we each made a pact to buy a Pinarello Dogma F8 in Leprechaun Green. I just hope the legend that leprechaun gold disappears after 1 night isn’t true…
See you on the road!
