Hi Everyone,
OCC’s next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for Tuesday August 16, 2016 and leaves from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM.
The forecast for Tuesday is “…periods of rain and a thunderstorm..”; temperatures will be about 82 degrees. Dress accordingly and bring ample water to stay hydrated. I am not sure what they mean by this forecast since it is quite different from other sources. Check my late afternoon post. One thing is for sure…this weather really feels like summer.
As I mentioned in last week’s email, we are running out of SnE cycling season all too quickly. All we have left is a couple more weeks in August and a couple in September before the SnE is over for the season. Need I remind you again, if you want to give the ride a try, now is the time while we still have nice weather and the days aren’t too short. Come on out and ride with us.
You may have noticed in my post ride reports that we have not had a lot of guests coming out to the ride. I am not sure of the reason but I would like to extend an open invitation to all of you who have never ridden with the club to come out and try our ride rides. We would like to have you come out and see what we have to offer you in the way of rides and camaraderie. We have a lot of nice folks who are always willing to share the sport with you. Give us a try before the season is over.
While our name may give people the impression that everyone is riding at a slow pace, the ride really has evolved into a ride for all levels of cyclists from beginner to experienced. The OCC Slow ‘n Easy West rides provide a fun cycling experience for anyone who wants to get into cycling. The ride(s) offer a variety of route/ride options that have various skill and ability levels allowing us to better match rider skill levels so that there is something for everyone. Most folks find that once they have done a number of “slow ‘n easy” rides, they are looking at something a little longer and somewhat faster. That’s why we offer at least four levels of rides…to give you a place to grow your skills. All of our rides are “no drop” rides so you won’t get left behind.
This ride is open to all members of the club as well as to guests who have an interest in the sport. Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer. If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year. Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season. Membership applications are available at rides or on line.
All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides. If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store. No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it. Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.
So, join us this Tuesday evening for the next S’nE West ride.
