Hi Everyone,
OCC’s next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for Tuesday September 6, 2016 and departs the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM. This the last scheduled SnE West ride on the calendar for the season. We’ve had great weather and it’s been fun!
The forecast for Tuesday is calling for “…plenty of sunshine…” with a high temperature of 84 degrees. The weather seems to be holding in a summery mode for a while. It’s too bad the days have gotten so short.
Our season will be over on Tuesday. Wow!...where did it go? If doing this ride is still on your bucket list, get it in before it’s all over. If you want to give the ride a try, now is the time…while we still have nice weather and the days aren’t too short. Come on out and ride with us…one last chance, Check out the ride calendar on the club website to see what other rides are still happening so that you can continue to ride.
While our name may give people the impression that everyone is riding at a slow pace, the ride really has evolved into a ride for all levels of cyclists from beginner to experienced. The OCC Slow ‘n Easy West rides provide a fun cycling experience for anyone who wants to get into cycling. The ride(s) offers a variety of route/ride options that have various skill and ability levels allowing us to better match rider experience levels so that there is something for everyone. Most folks find that once they have done a number of “slow ‘n easy” rides, they are looking at something a little longer and somewhat faster. That’s why we offer at least four levels of rides…to give you a place to grow your skills. All of our rides are “no drop” rides so you won’t get left behind. Why not give it a try?
As is our policy, this ride is open to all members of the club as well as guests who have an interest in the sport. (Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership from last year…you are not a member and must sign in as a guest.) Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer. If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year. Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season. Membership applications are available at rides or on line.
All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides. If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store. No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it. Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.
So, join us this Tuesday evening for the last S’nE West ride of the 2016 season.
Where: Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (parking lot on west end between the tennis courts and pavilion)
When: Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp; sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM
Bring: Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride; with the warmer weather, you’ll want to stay hydrated
Dress: Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this
Tom Hotaling will not be there for Tuesday’s ride but he has suggested that the group do Option #2. Now all that we need is someone to lead the group. I would like to hear from one of you folks if you are willing to lead the group…Dale are you interested? Tanner? Anyone else???
I will be there to answer your questions and with the help of our volunteer leaders lead the our variety of ride options. As usual, we’ll have treats for after the ride. If you enjoy baking, you are always welcome to bring post ride snacks to share…and showcase your skills. Stick around after the ride and we’ll be happy to listen to your comments as well as answer any questions you may have.
See you all Tuesday evening. If you have any questions come early and we’ll will be happy to answer them.
Ciao,
Tony
