A 54-year-old Syracuse man had his right leg amputated after he was struck by a dump truck while riding his bicycle in Midtown Manhattan, according to report in the New York Post.

John Carr, 54, of Syracuse, was in New York City working as a stagehand at Madison Square Garden for an upcoming Adele concert, according to the report. Police said Carr was on his bicycle on Eighth Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Friday when he was struck at the intersection with 40th Street.

Carr was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where doctors had to amputate his leg, the report said.
