Hi Everyone,
Sorry I’m a little later getting this out today but here it is. Despite all the speculation about the weather yesterday, we had a very respectable turnout last night. There were 38 members and one guest for a total of 39 riders. The riders rode a total of 707 miles.
While the weather threatened leading up to the 6:00 PM ride start, we got off mostly lucky. Talking with Tom Hotaling, he said his group got caught in a brief shower…but no one melted. For the most part what we got was a light sprinkling of rain periodically but nothing steady. The areas under the trees along the roads were still dry in areas…so nothing very heavy.
A couple of riders who showed up decided to take a bye on the evening but we made out pretty good all things considered.
We only had 3 rides last night…no one wanted to ride the canal routeL. Tom Hotaling led his group on option 1 while Glen
Larson filled in for Mike Lyon who was tied up with work meetings. Dean Connery also filled for Mark Perrin who was out of the area. A special thanks to both Glen and Dean for filling in as ride leaders. Since no one wanted to do the canal, Roland Pearson and I rode sweep on Dean’s 10 mile easy road ride. I only wish I had my road bike instead of the hybrid for the ride.
After cancelling the previous two week’s rides I figured last night was worth a try…and it worked out fine. I really hate to cancel a ride, but sometimes it’s the only good option. Hopefully next week will be better…we’ll see.
There was only one flat that I am aware of. Dean handled that without a problem.
See you all next week,
Ciao,
Tony
