Hi folks,
Last night registration closed for this weekends 22nd annual Race Weekend, and we have participants heading to Syracuse from across the US and Canada for this great event.
The one thing we're missing are volunteers from the club to make this happen. Now you may ask yourself, 'why should I volunteer, what's in it for me?' Great question, and the answer is that there's a lot in it for you.
For example, every year the OCC writes a large check to CNYTriathlon so that our membership can use the Winter Training Facility in Shoppingtown mall, and the reason we can do that it because the proceeds from events like Race Weekend make it possible. So if you use the Winter Training Facility in the off season, then you've benefited directly from Race Weekend and the volunteers who support it. I would ask that everyone giver back a few hours of their time this weekend to keep this the world class event it's been for the last 21 years.
What do we need? Our highest need is for pace/wheel car drivers for the Friday night hill climb at Beak & Skiff and the Sunday Road Race in Tully and we definitely need road marshals for the Sunday road race.
Volunteers are invited to join us at Break & Skiff Friday night for dinner, and we pay mileage for everyone driving a pace or wheel car. Everyone driving a wheel car will have a USACycling official as a co-pilot; it's a great way to see a bike race.
Please contact me directly or you can go directly to
BikeReg and sign yourself up for the event you would like to volunteer for. No experience is necessary!
Thanks!
