It was one of those days where you didn’t know whether you should ride or not – there was no color on the radar, the rain probability kept going down with each hour, but the sky looked like it would rain any minute. Luckily, not one of us got rained on!
The ride drew a small crowd, but maybe because of the weather, the VH rating? Anyway, those of us that did ride had some nice views (a couple pics will be on our FB page), regardless of the cloudy skies. As we entered the lowlands (after the Tully-Truxton climb), the recent rainfall was evident with standing water in fields, water running across the road and the streams/rivers were pretty high and murky (one was the East branch of the Tioughnioga according to my Garmin). The longest mileage ridden was 51 miles, no one did Strong Road and everyone got back safely.
Coming up – Next Friday is a generally rolling ride from Phoenix, Gilbert Mills Ride, Phx-4. The following Friday, July 28, we’ll go to Knapp Winery and ride around wine country. Tradition is that we always eat lunch after at Knapp Winery so mark your calendars and plan to join us! Hopefully we’ll have good weather.
