Subject: The 38th Great Finger Lakes Bicycle Tour

Although in mid-winter the coming summer’s cycling events may not be the first thing on your mind, it is a great time to start making plans for the season.  Please consider adding our event to your club’s newsletter or calendar.  The Southern Tier Bicycle Club would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word.

June 8-10, 2018, Southern Tier Bicycle Club will host the 38th annual Great Finger Lakes Bicycle Tour.  We will have 3 days of great road bike rides through the rolling hills of the Finger Lakes Region of New York and will augment that great food, games, speakers and the company of about 200 likeminded cyclists.

The event is based out of the Hidden Valley Campground section of Watkins Glen State Park near Watkins Glen, NY.  Watkins Glen is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes.  The area is replete with scenic views, waterfalls, wineries, cafes and historical sites.

We provide camping (with cabin options), catered meals, and a full weekend of activities.  Please consider passing this link along to your membership or consider getting a group of your members together and making it a club trip.  If you contact me directly, we may be able to set up a cabin for the exclusive use of your club (depending on numbers) .

There are rides for all levels from 20 miles of easy terrain to 102 miles with significant climbs.  We will have ride facilitators available on most of the rides to help you get started and find riding companions. A sag wagon is on call the entire weekend.  The Saturday rides this year will be primarily between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes and most will turn around in Ithaca at the Farmer’s Market.  http://www.ithacamarket.com/  Ithaca is at the South end of Cayuga lake and is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College.  The compact downtown area offers many great restaurants for a lunch stop.

The cost of the weekend is $92 and covers two nights of camping, 4 catered meals, maps and route sheets, sag services and a promise of a great time.

Full details of the event as well as registration details are available on the event website ; www.greatfingerlakesbiketour.com

Feel free to contact me directly if I can be of any assistance or provide any additional information.

Thank You
