Hi Everyone,
There is an correction on the ride option that Tom Hotaling will be doing tomorrow night. I misread his email when I was emailing yesterday: he will be doing Option #2…not #1…which is a 20 mile loop. Sorry for the “fake news”

Subject: Tuesday's Slow 'n Easy West Ride
Hi Everyone,
This Tuesday will be the second Slow ‘n Easy ride of the 2018 season. Sign-in should begin around 5:30 pm, give or take. Today’s Accu Weather forecast for Tuesday shows a high of 73 with a mix of sun and clouds. They are saying “…Partly sunny, breezy and nice”. I like the “nice” This should be fun riding weather and it should not get too cool after the sun goes down since the low will only be 56. I won’t be able to make this week’s ride due to a long standing commitment, but Mike will be there with the other ride leaders to give you a great night of cycling. Tom Hotaling is planning on doing Option #1 for his “experienced riders” which is a 20 mile jaunt. Check out the route on the club website and print yourself a map. For the rest of you, we should have our usual selection of easy and medium rides. If you follow this blog every week and think you should give it a try but you haven’t had the motivation yet, do it now while the season is young. You need to get the bike out of the garage, shed or basement and pump up the tires and check things out. Clean off the cobwebs and the dust from the last time you rode. You probably won’t be able to say that Tuesday will be too cold to ride…it should be nice and comfortable…not in the 90s. You just need to convince yourself to give it a try and see if you like it. If you have a friend who has been wanting to ride, why not convince them to join you…it’s always easier to do things with a friend. You’ll find a great group of friendly people with similar interests and goals to ride with and a variety of ride levels that will fit your skills and ability. Give us a try…you’ll be happy with what you find. We like to see new faces…we were all new to this sport once upon a time. The ride is open to all members of the club as well as non-member guests who have an interest in the sport. Guests are encouraged to join with us on a ride and see if they like what we offer. If they enjoy the ride, then we invite them to join the club and become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities for the year. Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season. Membership applications are available at rides or you can sign up on line at the club web site at: https://onondagacyclingclub.org/about/join-now/ with no extra charges. You are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides as well as any other OCC rides. If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store. No helmet…no ride...no exceptions. Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous…and our insurance requires it. Here are the details: Where: Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts) When: Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp; sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM Bring: Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride Dress: Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this I’ll be back on the 8th…see you all then. Ciao, Tony PS: The OCC is once again supporting its “buy a bike…get a 2018 membership” promotion with all local bike shops. If you buy a new bike be sure to ask the shop. This offer only applies to bikes sold through recognized local bike shops. Also, the offer is only for people who have not been a member of the club previously…not good for renewals. | ||
