It was a pleasant night for the TT Tuesday night. The wind was a bit too puffy (est. 8-10 mph NW) to be considered an ideal night, but everyone seemed to take in stride.
We had 8 riders take off from the start line - two more would have if they had checked their biking essentials list twice - Hmmm, cycling shoes..ah, check! Helmet? check!
The Salty Chimps had expected to practice their 4-man TTT skills, but unfortunately, only three could ride due to one member not bringing his helmet. We also had a Junior show up to practice his TTing before the State Championships this weekend. Unfortunately, he had forgotten his cycling shoes. Dang!
Our FMT was captured by Sam Sampere, who is rounding out nicely into form for the LP IM in two weeks. He set his PR by 2 seconds by dicing the course in a time of 24:08 (24.86 mph). Coming off her PR of 2 weeks ago, Karen Busse had another strong showing in slightly more challenging conditions and cruised through the course in 26:23 (22.74 mph). Only 6 seconds off her time from two weeks ago.

What a time of year for sports ! Wimbledon Finals, World Cup Finals, MLB All Star game and the riveting Tour de France!
Don't miss the cobblestones of TDF stage 9 on Sunday. Something big may happen. Then after a day off on Monday, the first Alps stage on Tuesday. Again, there may be some fireworks in the peloton after the rest day. Some riders don't respond well to climbing after the day off. The end of the stage could create some separation... 10 miles of climbing at 8.5% in a span of 14 miles.. then a downhill finish. There could be some crazy attempts here to chase down any breakaways on the climb.
Get inspired!
Good luck to all that are competing in the NYS Championships in Tioga this weekend.
See you next Tuesday.
