Hi Everyone,
It’s Sunday again and we are looking forward to this Tuesday’s Slow ‘n Easy West Ride once again. Our ride will start from Reed Webster Park in Camillus at 6:00 PM as usual. Reed Webster Park is on Rt 173 (Warners Rd). we park in the west lot adjacent to the tennis courts. The Accuweather forecast for Tuesday is “…A couple of showers and a thunderstorm, mainly early, not as warm; cloudy, then clouds and sun…” with a projected high of 80o for the day. it looks like we will be just fine.
We plan to have our usual four rides. Tom Hotaling is planning to do option #5, a 25 mile loop with enough ups and downs to tire an elevator operator for our experienced riders while Mike will plan an intermediate level ride of 18-23 miles for our intermediate group. Mark will be doing his usual easy 10-13 mile highway route. Hopefully the roads will not be freshly oiled. I still plan to lead the canal path/highway ride for beginners as long as I don’t forget my shoes again. This ride is about 10 miles also…with nice scenery. Pick the ride that best suits your ability.
There was some discussion last week about the length of the intermediate ride. Mike tries to select a route that will help people to grow their ability as well as offer a small challenge. We only grow when we challenge ourselves a bit. If you think a ride may be more difficult than you can or want to handle, drop to the next level until you are comfortable. Unfortunately, we only have so many roads to chose from…wish there were more.
If you are new to the sport or just want to try riding with a group, come out to ride with us as our guest. Guests are always welcome to ride with us once during the season and if they like it, we encourage them to join as regular members to enjoy the benefit of all the rides the cub offers. You may think that it is too warm to ride…not so…if you are traveling at 10 Miles and hour, you are creating your own cooling breeze that makes it quite comfortable. It’s a lot warmer just standing still. Pack up your bike and come on out to ride this Tuesday. We always have room for you.
You will need a bike helmet to ride with the club and they are available in many locations…even Walmart. No helmet…no ride. They are not expensive. Make sure they are USDOT approved.
Here are the ride details in brief:
Where: Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)
When: Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp; sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM; sign out with your mileage when you return;
Bring: Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;
Dress: Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this. Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride. No helmet…no ride. Our insurance requires this.
So, there you have it. Come on out and ride with us. You’ll meet some great people with a common interest and have a great time instead of staying home watching TV re-runs.
I’ll be there around 5:30 PM for sign in.
Ciao,
Tony
