Unfortunately, we seem to be in the middle of a stretch of unsettled weather. Tuesday evening there is about a 40% chance of showers. The winds will be light and the temps should be in the mid to high 70s. It is probable that we will be able to hold the time trial.
Lets see how things unfold.
Doctors cite many scientific studies that have determined the best way to combat TDF withdrawal syndrome is go out and actually ride your bike.... Time Trials seem to be especially effective in accelerating the healing process. So, come on out!!!
What can we say about the Tour this year? One of the best of all time !!
There were tons of attacks in the mountains stages and some came to fruition. We finally saw "old" young man Quintana make a move and win a stage in the Tour. We had the unprecedented mano a mano showdown on Alpe D'Huez. Even the Green Jersey had a bit of suspense when it was thought the injured Sagan may not make the time cut on the last mountain stage. He breaks the record for the most sprinter points and then almost doesn't finish the race! We also had the opportunity for a laugh when he innocently described his injury as "a broken Ass Muscle"! or something to that effect. We saw the usually relaxed, good-natured Tom Dumoulin drop an F-bomb when expressing his frustration of how Primoz Roglic was able to take advantage of the motorcycle that maintained too small a distance in front him. We saw an incredible effort in the individual TT by Chris Froome to take back the podium position he had lost the previous day to Roglic when all of the "experts" had written him off. We saw the usual assortment of idiotic fandom on the mountain passes which included the normal number of naked running men. We saw Lawson Craddock parlay his pain threshold into $180,000 for a velodrome repair in his hometown. We saw what happens to Taylor Phinney when he says "dude" one too many times (sure, he hit a tree! Me thinks not). We may have gotten our first look at a future TDF winner... 21 year old Egan Bernal pulled the Sky Train up the mountains stage after stage. We got to experience one the most awkward interviewers on this planet way too many times. I counted four times that he asked Geraint Thomas "how does it feel to win the Tour?" Gotta love those French sports reporters.
There was so much more.... share your favorite! I hope you all enjoyed it. Only 4 weeks til the Vuelta a Espana !
Au revoir!
