Hi to all our Riders and potential Riders,

SNEW logo.jpgDo you think what they are forecasting for the early part of this week is a little on the warm side?  If you do but don’t mind the heat, try our ride(s) this Tuesday starting at 6:00 PM from Reed Webster Park on Warner’s Rd (Rt 173).  Accuweather is forecasting that Tuesday’s weather will be “Mostly sunny; hot, very humid” with a high of 91.  Looks like the whole week will be warm but Tuesday will be the warmest.  If the heat and humidity doesn’t bother you, come on out to ride this coming Tuesday. It never feels quite as warm when you are moving. We’d love to have you.

We will have our usual diverse group of rides once again for our diverse group of riders:  Tom Hotaling will follow the hillier option #4 on a 24 mile loop for all our strong adventurous riders while Mike Lyon will take his intermediate group out on another 18-20 mile loop of the countryside.  Mark Perrin of The Bikery and his helpers will lead their group of newer riders on another easy paced 10-13 or 15 mile highway loop and I, as usual, will take our newest riders out on the canal for a slow and easy 9-10 mile loop.  The days are getting shorter so all rides leave promptly at 6:00 PM.  Other than Tom’s fast and furious ride, the other three are no drop rides…no getting left behind.

There are only two rides left for this SnEW season.  So what are you waiting on?  You know you want to give it a try but keep putting it off.  L  Don’t miss out on the fun!  Dig out that bike of yours, dust it off, check the tire pressures and come out on Tuesday.  You can be our guest.  You’ll have fun riding and meet a great group of new friends.  Guests who enjoy riding are encouraged to become members.  If you are a club member, come on out and try this ride.  Beyond these rides, there are a whole lot of other club rides you can do if you become a member.  Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the year…if you like it, join us.

For all you folks who are new to riding with the club, all we require is that you wear a DOT approved safety helmet…our insurance requires it. They are inexpensive and can be found at all local bike shops and most sporting goods and big box stores.  If you stay with “functional” and avoid “fancy” you won’t spend a lot.  Fancy clothing is not a necessity…dress comfortably for the weather and bring hydration.  We’ll help you get used to riding with a group and enjoying a healthy sport that many octogenarians enjoy.

Here are the details in a nutshell:

  Where:  Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)

                                        When:    Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp;  sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM; sign out with your mileage when you return;

                                        Bring:     Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;

  Dress:    Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this.  Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride.  No helmet…no ride.  Our insurance requires this.

I’m looking forward to seeing you this Tuesday.  Watch your email around 4:00-4:30 PM for ride status. If there are any changes, I will post them in an email.

Ciao,

Tony
