A nice group of 12 riders rode today in cool high 40s temperatures mostly sunny. Most did ,40 miles with some doing less. The roads were mostly fine, of course taking into account that this time of year there's lots of grit all over. There were some wet spots and some of those had slushy snow where we had to be extra careful but those were few and far between.
Today I experimented with downloading our map into my phone right from the OCC web site and using the "ridewithgps" app to track and tell me when to make the correct turns. I'm old school and only use a basic computer with trip miles, average speed and top speed so this was something I normally wouldn't use. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use and how accurate it was. If you are directionally challenged and/or don't like to use a map this is a completely free way to do our club rides worry free. I would still carry a map just in case. On some of our longer and more remote rides I will be using this app for sure.
