Hi Everyone,
Another day of ugly, cloudy, rainy, damp, cool weather to endure for the summer of 2019…L So when is it going to be summer??? I have been
waiting for the good weather to make a showing (dry, warm and sunny) but so far I have yet to see much that I could call summer. I hope it gets better soon. To top it all off, our power was out this morning…thanks National Grid!
Things are looking up for Tuesday’s Slow ‘n Easy West ride. Accuweather is forecasting : “Partly sunny; nice…high of 77”. Looks like it could be a nice evening to ride. Tuesday’s Slow ‘n Easy West Ride once again will start from Reed Webster Park in Camillus at 6:00 PM. Reed Webster Park is on Rt 173 (Warners Rd). We park in the west lot adjacent to the tennis courts. Sign-in will be open around 5:30 PM so that you can be ready to ride at 6:00 PM.
We will have our usual choice of rides for those who come. In addition to a 10 mile real easy canal route we also offer a 10 mile slow highway route (easy), intermediate highway routes of 18-20 miles (more challenging and faster) and a very challenging faster and hillier 20-25 mile route for all those who want to go home tired (it will be a workout). Four different rides to choose from. Other than the “challenge” ride, all the rides are no drop rides. You won’t be left behind. This week,Tom Hotaling, our “challenge” leader will be using option #1, a 23 mile loop. Check out the ride on the club website and print yourself a copy of the route if you want to try this one.
We are closing in on July so if getting into doing the SnEW was one of you goals, get with it or it will be winter soon. I know the weather has been less than nice, but this week looks pretty good. Each week I keep challenging all of you to come out and try the ride…especially if you are new to riding. You can come as our guest if you are not a member. Check in with Mike if you do. Members are always welcome to come out. We’ll be there to answer any questions you have and look over your bike if you have any questions. Dress for the weather…you don’t necessarily need bike clothes…just be comfortable for now. If you enjoy riding with the club, you can join on-line and enjoy the rest of the season’s rides.
We do require you to wear a DOT approved bike helmet on the ride. No helmet…no ride…our insurance requires this. Helmets are not expensive as long as you don’t go for the fancy racing models and as long as they meet the standards you are OK…and so is your head.
Here are the details:
Where: Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)
When: Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp; sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM
Bring: Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;
Dress: Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this. Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride. No helmet…no ride. Our insurance requires this.
We look forward to seeing you this Tuesday,
Ciao,
Mike and Tony
