Dear Mike Lyon,
A little more than four years ago, our son was guided into long-term recovery from his heroin addiction. For our part, Tim and I looked for a way to “pay forward” our joyful gratitude for the gift of his life.
Today, we belong to a “community of healing”—Road2RecoveryCNY. With the impassioned support of a vanguard of volunteers—many of whom have had their own lives ravaged by this disease—we have nurtured into being a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of “saving lives, one at a time.” A legacy of gratitude, R2RCNY has already saved the lives of twenty three individual persons—guiding and nurturing them from the chaos of their addiction to the serenity of a new way of life.
We write to you today with this “good news.” To proclaim and to celebrate—to honor and acknowledge—and, yes, to thank each and every person who has been a part of this extraordinary movement.
In this spirit we would like to share a video created by Mikey—an alum who continues to “pay his own gratitude forward” by offering up to Road2RecoveryCNY his wonderfully creative work.
Born of spirit, our work is its endowment. Quickened by the power of healing, the love of a parent for a child, and a gratitude that gives forward what it has received, our labors manifest a power within—and a power that transcends. As each recipient begins the long climb out from the shadows of this affliction, we witness again the power of this presence. To look back in amazement at “what love hath wrought” and forward, in the prayerful anticipation of another life saved: we are sustained by this spirit of love.
Ours is a work that is never done—a calling that is never diminished.
And so too do we pledge to you this day our implacable resolve to continue our work—to press on with our mission: to draw others—and still others—out from the darkness of this silted swamp and into the white light of recovery.
Thank you.
Darlene and Tim Endy,
