Hello All;
For those of you who missed the trout stocking, those of you who made it to the stocking and liked the paddle so much you want to do it again, and those of you who are new to our mailing list, the Nine Mile Creek Conservation Council (NMCCC) would like to invite you to a trip down Nine Mile Creek on Saturday June 4th. The plan is to paddle from Munro Park in the Village of Camillus to the Erie Canal Aqueduct, and bicycle along the Erie Canal trail, Devoe Road and Newport Road back to the put-in point. We will meet at 1:00 at Munro Park. For those of you who don't want to bicycle back we will arrange transportation back. We will have snacks afterward at Munro Park.
The total length of this trip is about 2-1/2 miles on the creek and 2 miles back along the canal trail and Newport Road. If you prefer to ride on a paved road you can ride back along Thompson Road to Devoe Road.
For anyone who wants a longer trip, there are takeouts at Warners Road, Airport Road, and Pumphouse Road, and you can bicycle back from all three points, but NMCCC will not provide transportation back from those points if you don't want to bicycle. And there are various difficulties past the Aqueduct - a tricky rocky chute just past the aqueduct, a carry around a dam near Warners Road, and downed trees all along the creek past the aqueduct that you have to maneuver around.
I will be happy to provide a map to anyone who wants one.
Yours,
Bill Morse
