[occ2] Re: Altmar ride

I would have been driving up from Fayetteville, but the one hour drive would have been worth it to me. I was more than willing to make the drive if it weren't the doom and gloom of the forecasts the prior two days.

Too bad about the parking situation. That was unreasonable and far too short-sighted, especially given that the riders could have been restaurant customers after the ride, no? I had heard about this place and was also excited to see it in person for a possible future weekend stay with gravel bike options nearby.

I will keep my eyes out in the event this route does pop up for a future Leader's Choice again this year.

Thanks for your feedback. This particular ride was a "leader's choice" ride. It was not one that had been scheduled regularly as it had been part of a vacation ride, a special event that was run annually as a location ride, a 3-4 day trip. That year, it was based out of the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar.
I suspected that it would have a low attendance d/t the long drive time for many riders and the weather report.
After returning, we were told by the day manager that the Tailwater parking lot could not be used as a day parking spot. I imagine she was a "by the book" employee as the 100+ parking lot was entirely empty.😂
I haven't looked forward on the schedule to see if there are other Leader's choice rides, but that would be an opportunity to run it again.

Hello,

I am a new member of OCC (signed up back in April). I just wanted to email you to say how disappointed I am at my decision to not ride with your group this past Sunday. I was indeed fooled by our local media into believing the rain was going to wash out this ride. I was eager to ride this route, given how scenic it was on both ends.

After reading your ride report, I see that your group was small but you pulled off the ride without a drop of rain.

As this ride is one of the more scenic rides of OCC, I scanned the calendar with the hopes it would reappear in a future ride but don't see this route again this year.

Will there be an opportunity later this year for this route to reappear, or is that it for the schedule until 2024?
