It was an interesting night on the Time Trial course.  The temperature started out at a nice, warm 82 degrees with an 8pm breeze from the SW.   As the cold front and storms moved in just to the north of the course, the winds took a dramatic shift to the NW and then N about 15 minutes after the TT start time.   As I waited at the finish line I was inundated by a maelstrom of silver and red maple 'copter (also known as whirlybirds) seeds.    Luckily, the rain stayed to the north, and the TTers had the rare benefit of the wind conditions.

Four TTers came out for the inaugural TT of the season. All were glad they did.   Tiago rocketed through the course so fast that I could see his helmet glowing orange as he re-entered the earth's atmosphere near the finish line.  He lowered his PR time by a stunning 26 seconds and in doing so only missed the course record by 6 seconds -  20:55 (28.68mph ave speed).  Rob Coapman's first time on the course proved to be auspicious as he set the best time ever in the RoadAero category. He crushed the course in a time of 22:58 (26.12 mph).   Kevin Martin pulverized his times from last year!  He took 1:07 off of his already excellent time by posting a PR time of 23:20 (25.72mph).   And Ken had a strong showing after taking a significant time off of the bike this winter.

Giro d'Italia:   I just checked out the Giro d'Italia.  Apparently Pogacar has the race wrapped up barring any crashes.  The route has had modifications due to rough snowy conditions over Umbrail Pass which was already a concession made to the racers of a change made due to avalanches in the Stelvio.  region.  WoW!  You just never know what you are going to get in the Giro.

Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend!   The weather should be excellent.
