It was a steamy evening for the Tuesday Time Trial. Luckily, by 6:30pm the temperature on the course had dropped down to 83 degrees in the shady areas and to 87 degrees in the sunnier sections. There was little to no breeze.
Three TTers showed up to test themselves in the fast air. Unfortunately, Rich's tire had a flat and no tubular spares were available. So, that left Kevin and Jon to tackle the course.
Jon had not done the TT since Sept 2022. He apparently has been training very effectively. He scorched the course in a PR time of 24:10 (24.83mph). That was 2:16 faster than his previous PR ! His time edged him ahead of Kaleb for the 2nd fastest time in the RoadAero division. And he is only 16 years old! Kevin came through with a strong 24:45 (24.25mph).
The Tour de France starts a week from this Saturday in Florence, Italy. It will consist of 5 Mtn stages, 2 Individual TTs and a gravel stage. Due to the Olympics being Paris, the tour will finish in Nice instead. Favorites include Pogacar, Vingegaard, Evenepoel and Roglic.
Enjoy the Summer!
