There is a light shower on parts of the TT course currently.  The forecast calls for a chance of showers at 3pm and 5pm...  but, it is a fluid situation (pun intended).    There will be a 9-11mph NW breeze that should aid drying the road out if showers do occur.

I'll head up to the course and blow off any debris.

We'll keep our fingers crossed that the roads dry out.

Whoa!  Who decided to usher in the mid-October weather ??   Cool weather and showers are in the forecast tomorrow. Given the cool temps, any rain that falls will be slow to dry out.   We'll have to monitor the situation.

Expected conditions at start time:
Temperature:  61 degrees
Wind:              12 mph NW
Humidity:          high
Skies:                overcast

Vuelta a Espana News:
The Vuelta starts in Lisbon, Portugal and will not end up in Spain until Stage 4.   The first major test for the GC contenders will occur at Stage 9's mountain stage.

Stage 1 :   American Brandon McNulty won the 12km (7.44miles) TT first stage by 2 seconds and averaged almost 35.5mph !   The best finish by one of the favorites was Primoz Roglic who finished 17 seconds back.   Defending champion American Sepp Kuss didn't do himself any favors by finishing 53 seconds back.  There were quite a few potential podium finishers in the 32-40 seconds back range.

Stage 2:  Flattish with a couple of Cat 4s -    Ended with a bunch sprint...  Kaden Groves outsprints Wout van Aert.  He had stated in the pre-race interview that he is the favorite to win the stage if there are no major issues.  He lost his leadout guys and had to follow van Aert's wheel and managed to pass him at the line.   But,  van Aert is now in the red jersey due to the bonus time for finishing second.

Stage 3:    Happening today...  not gonna spoil it.

The podium winners from the TdF are not at the Vuelta.   Roglic would have to be considered the favorite. He has won the Vuelta in 2019, 2020 and 2021.  His strong TT shows he's in pretty good form.  We'll see how he handles the high mtns in week 3.
