The showers/rain held off until well after the finish of the TT. Hopefully Ken made it home without getting wet. There was some slightly wet roads on the northwest section of the course, but, other than that, the course was bone dry.
Five TTers rolled to the start line. Unfortunately, we all had to wait for someone to repeatedly back their camper trailer into their driveway about 250 yards from the start. All seemed settled, so I started Rob, he lit up his jet burners.... then, of course, the befuddled driver pulled out again. Luckily there was no on coming traffic and Rob was able to go around without incident. He then scorched the course in a PR time of 22:56 (26.16mph) which in turn lowered the course record in the RoadAero category. Ron, Mike, Ken and Jeff all had great times. Jeff came out for the first time this year and was only 20 seconds off of the PR he had set last year.
I had touted the wind direction of SE as being the fastest direction on this course. I'm now not so sure. While the cooler air offers more resistance, I had expected the good wind direction to more than make up for it. Back to the drawing board.
I'll be willing to extend the TT season if the weather is good and if there is interest. The temperatures are supposed to be fairly warm for the next week.
