what a nice day for the annual Independence Day ride
temp in 70's, low humidity, low AGI and partly favorable winds
Sorry about the web site not having the 8am start as several riders came after 8am
no reported issues
(the issue from last year was a rider drank a gallon of water at circle K Sylvan beach, but this year only purchased a bottle)
the hills were mitigated by the nice westerly winds
or maybe we are used to them having done them in past years
the strong group did it in 5+ hours
and the weaker group did it in 7+ hours
that is for the century
the weaker group (4 riders) cooperated in drafting
especiially needed for the easterly return
I noted that a member taking the lead pulled in behind a car that had pulled in front of us from a turn and he took short advantage of the draft. Nice move
anyone remember the horse with the two goats on its tail
Of course, it was crowded with a line of cars at Sylvan beach
and there were just enough cookies for all participants
will bring extra next year (maybe chocolate chip by request vs oatmeal raisin)
so, for statistics
2-29
4-50/51
9-100/101
1-99.61
