Tuesday night brought us the fastest air of the season.... 92 degrees with 50% humidity. The downside was that the TTers had to face off against a 15mph W headwind for the first 3 miles.

5 TTers rolled to the start line.  For the first time Hop donned his blazing red "Flash" speedsuit.  True to the suit's theme, he sliced through the early headwinds and had enough left in the tank to obliterate his PR by 12 seconds with a FMT of 24:07 (24.87mph).  Brigitte was a guest last week and is now a member.  As promised, she came back this week with her Tri bike.  She blew away her road bike aerobar time by 2:12 ! She took the FWT honors with a blazing 26:58 (22.25mph).    Todd knocked down his PR by another 7 seconds in the road bike division.

The results were very impressive.  I had my doubts given speed and the direction of the wind.  It was definitely a day for those with compact aero positioning to shine.

Tour de France:
The Tourmalet stage propelled Pogacar to an almost unsurmountable lead.   He then added another 40 seconds or so over Vingegaard on the hilly stage 10 after the rest day.   It is now a battle for 2nd and 3rd.   The primary GC contenders are Vingegaard, Evenepoel, Ayuso, Pidcock and 19 year old Seixas.  Vingegaard seems to be fading.   Perhaps he hasn't completely recovered from his victory in the Giro.   Stage 14 and 15 will be mtn stages with approx 12.5k and 15k of climbing respectively. Stage 14 will pack that climbing into 94 miles. There is also an intermediate sprint at 7.5 miles, so the pace will be furious early on.  Stage 15 will finish with a 7 mile at 9% finish.  This week will definitely be exciting !!

Catch it on Peacock!
