Hi everyone,
Last evening’s SnE west ride brought out a larger number of riders than I would have anticipated based on the weather conditions. I was rather disappointed to have slipped back into this cool weather once again. The coolness seems to be driven by some circulating Canadian cold fronts that are mixing with the warmer southern US fronts and leaving us with cooler weather. Hopefully this will get by us soon. At least we are not dealing with flooding as some other areas are.
We had 33 members and 3 guests turn out for a total of 36 riders…a very respectable turnout. We did not have any beginners come out last night so there was no canal ride but we did have our other three choices. The three groups covered a total of 523 miles.
Since there were no takers for the canal ride, I rode with the 10 mile highway group, sweeping the tail, that was led by Mark Perrin of The Bikery, Dean Connery and Al Storings. Mike Lyon lead and intermediate level group on a 21 mile loop while Tom Hotaling did a more challenging 20 loop for the most advanced riders in the group. I only had one report of a problem…Mike Lyon had a flat coming over to the park which made him later than usual. Nothing else reported.
Tom has completed all of his routes for the challenge rides and is working to get them on the club website as soon as possible. These will all be numbered and Tom will be able to let everyone know in advance the route he plans to use. They should be able to download and print a copy of the route to have with them in the even they need it. I’ll let you know when the are available.
Lee’s soft raisin cookies were a treat when everyone returned. No ice cream last night…thank goodness.
See you all next week,
Ciao,
Tony
