Hi Everyone,

S + L logo.jpgThe next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, 2017.  The rides will leave from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus located on Warners Rd (Rt 173).  Our rides start promptly at 6:00 PM.  Please arrive early so that the rides can depart on time.

The forecast for the weather shows “…Partly sunny, pleasant and warmer… for the day.  Temperatures should peak around 74o…comfortable riding if you dress properly. Hopefully the forecast is accurate. J

OK, you follow this blog every week and think you should give it a try but you haven’t had the motivation yet.  You need to get the bike out of the garage, shed or basement and pump up the tires and check things out.  Clean off the cobwebs and the dust from the last time you rode.  You probably won’t be able to say that Tuesday will be too cold to ride…it should be nice and comfortable…not in the 90s.   You just need to convince yourself to give it a try and see if you like it.  If you have a friend who has been wanting to ride, why not convince them to join you…it’s always easier to do things with a friend.  You’ll find a great group of friendly people with similar interests and goals to ride with and a variety of ride levels that will fit your skills and ability.  Give us a try…you’ll be happy with what you find.  We like to see new faces…we were all new once upon a time.

The ride is open to all members of the club as well as non-member guests who have an interest in the sport.  Guests are encouraged to join with us on a ride and see if they like what we offer.  If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to join the club and become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities for the year.  Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season.  Membership applications are available at rides or on line at the club web site:  https://onondagacyclingclub.org/product-category/membership/.

You are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides as well as any other OCC rides.  If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store.  No helmet…no ride...no exceptions.  Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous…and our insurance requires it.

Tom Hotaling plans to do option #5 which is a 25 mile loop with 968ft of elevation this week.  All of who regularly ride in Tom’s “special” group can find this route on the club website under the Tuesday SnE rides.  You may want to print yourselves a map.

Last Tuesday’s nice weather brought out a lot of our regular riders from last season.  I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of you at this week’s ride!

So, join us Tuesday May 23rd  for the S’nE West ride.

PS:  The OCC is once again supporting its “buy a bike…get a 2017 membership” promotion with all local bike shops.  If you buy a new bike be sure to ask the shop.  This offer only applies to bikes sold through recognized local bike shops.  Also, the offer is only for people who have not been a member of the club previously…not good for renewals.
