Hi Everyone,
The next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday July 11, 2017 and leaves from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM. Please arrive early so that you can sign in and be ready to depart on time.
The forecast for Tuesday looks a little “iffy”: Accuweather is predicting “considerable cloudiness with a shower or thunderstorm in spots; humid”. They are predicting a high of around 80. I can’t honestly say what it will be like on Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM. It could be nice…or…? Check your emails late in the afternoon to see what we plan to do.
With the crazy weather this season, we have had very sporadic attendance of riders. The numbers go up when the weather looks good and down when the weather is doubtful. If you want to get into this sport this summer, if the weather looks anywhere near good, why not dig out your bike and come out for a ride? Check out the tire pressures and brakes if it has not been ridden in a while and come on out. Even if you get wet, not a problem. None of our riders are made of sugar: no one has melted yet and you can still have some fun even when it rains.
The OCC Slow ‘n Easy (East or West) rides provide a safe, non-intimidating cycling experience for riders of all skill levels with people who are always willing to help in sharing the fun. The ride(s) offers a variety of route/ride options that have various skill and ability levels allowing us to better match rider experience levels so that there is something for everyone. All of our rides are “no drop” rides so you won’t get left behind. Why not give it a try?
This ride is open to all members of the club as well as guests who have an interest in the sport. (Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership from 2016…you are not a member and must sign in as a guest.) Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer. If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year. Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season. Membership applications are available at rides or on line.
All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides. If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store. No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…our insurance requires it. Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.
So, join us this Tuesday evening for the next S’nE West ride.

PS: There will not be a canal route ride unless I hear from someone who is planning to do that route before Tuesday. If not, I plan to bring my road bike and ride with the 10 mile easy highway group.
