What a gorgeous night for a Time Trial !
The 10 TTers that showed up were greeted with near perfect conditions. The temperature hovered around 80 degrees and the breeze died down to less than 4mph.
Three of the TTers traveled from the Far East (okay, greater Rome/Utica area) and had recently joined the club with the intent of doing the Time Trial. Word is getting out that we have a fast course?! Welcome Chris Sr, Chris Jr and Paul!
Two of the travelers, the father/son team of Chris Welch Jr/Sr, made their trip worth while by finishing 1st and 2nd. Eighteen year old Chris Welch Jr set a new course record with a blistering 21:01 (28.55mph) ! Chris Sr ripped through the course in 23:39 (25.37mph). The fastest women was Erika Zazzarra, armed with her new TT rig, she obliterated the course with a 24:37 (24.37mph) and in doing so, lowered her PR by 1:06. Notice anything interesting with Erika's results? I should have made that a trivia question "what time will yield the same digits in the speed calculation?". Rich O'Neil, gearing up for his 20+? Ironman, took 2:13 off of his previous best.
The Tour is in full swing! Get inspired and compete against yourself! If you don't have an aero rig, ride the road bike in the non-aero category. If more than 15 come out, I'll have a drawing for one of those highly sought T-shirts!
