S + L logo.jpgHi Everyone,

OCC’s next Slow ‘n Easy West ride is scheduled for Tuesday August 22, 2017 and leaves from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM.  Time is running out for the SnEW 2017 season.  One more in August and possibly one on the first Tuesday of September…if the weather is nice.

The Accuweather forecast for Tuesday is “…Intervals of clouds and sunshine with a thunderstorm in the afternoon”;  temperatures will reach a high of 88o. I am not sure just when in the afternoon the thunderstorm my hit, but hopefully it will be early enough to give us another nice evening to ride…like last week.  watch for my email.

If you read my ride report from last week, you may recall my suggestion that our regular riders bring a friend with them.  Some of our regulars got into riding because a friend teased you into going for a ride.  Well this Tuesday will be our first “Bring a Friend” night.  They don’t have to be members since they will be our guests.  Maybe some of your friends have asked about the club or your riding and talked about how they loved to ride when they were younger.  Get them to drag their bikes out of the garage or basement and check them out for a ride…or let them borrow one of yours.

They want to go easy?  We can do that also.  I’ll bring my hybrid and take anyone out for a nice easy ride on the canal loop if they are not comfortable on the road at this time…don’t let me ride alone.  Some of your who started on the canal may want to do the ride as a nostalgia ride.  Whatever, we plan to have fun.  They can dress in anything comfortable but be sure they have a helmet to wear…you know the rules.  Hopefully these guests will enjoy the ride and get back to riding again. We’ll have our usual selection of rides to meet your skill set and all of our rides are “no drop” rides so you won’t get left behind.

This ride is open to all members of the club as well as guests who have an interest in the sport.  Guests are encouraged to join us on a ride and see if they like what we offer.  If they do enjoy the ride, then we invite them to become a member so that they can take advantage of all the other club rides and activities during the year.  Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season.  Membership applications are available at rides or on line.

All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides.  If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store.  No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it.  Riding without a helmet can be very dangerous.

So, join us this Tuesday evening for the next S’nE West ride.
