Hi Everyone,

This is the final SnEW ride report of the season for 2017.  It has certainly been a challenging season weather-wise.  It seems as though the weather chose Tuesdays to rain this year and it surely did.  Never in the history of the SnEW ride have we had the ride cancelled four times due to rain.  We have set a new record!

Last night was an absolutely perfect night to ride: nice temperature, no wind and NO RAIN.  It got a little chilly on the last coupe of miles once the sun had set.  But, that is to be expected.

We had 36 members come out along with one guest to give us a total of 37 riders.  We had our usual mix of rides.  Tom Hotaling led his group of very experienced riders on a 24 mile run while Glen Larson filled in for Mike Lyon, who was away on business, and led the group on an 18 mile loop.  Roland Pearson and Al Storrings took Mark Perrin’s easy all highway ride out for a 10 mile ride and I led a 10 mile canal loop.  The groups rode a total of 650 miles last night.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the fine riding…other than Glen.

Glen was so powerful on his bike that he snapped his chain and had to resort to foot power instead of pedal power to get back.  Sorry about that Glen.  Thanks go out to Glen, Roland and Al for filling in last night.   As usual, I want to thank all our regular ride leaders for their dedication throughout the entire season.  We could not do it without you and, we really appreciate it.

The Slow ‘n Easy West will return next spring and we’ll do this all again.  Hopefully we’ll enjoy nicer and drier weather. It’s been a great season and I appreciate all of you coming out to ride with us throughout the season.  There are still weekend rides with the club so check them out and keep riding.
