Well, I made my first WTF class and followed Chuck D's expert advice--fantastic!  It all worked perfectly.
Sam got me for $10, but I learned how the riser thing works and my tire got nice and shiny.  However, I did sweat without having to splash water on myself (I think I saw Chuck doing this).
But, oh man, MTV?  Video Killed the Radio Star ??  Check asked that I post the link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwuy4hHO3YQ
Chuck tells me there is a cameo of him in there somewhere.  First person to find Chuck get a free bike at your LBS--on Chuck!  Chuck is loaded--he's been stealing the $10 we have all paid for the skewers--sorry Sam.

The leader was great, classes are great. So, if you haven't tried it, GFI (I'm really on this this 3 letter thing now--thanks Chuck!)

1 Get a cheap skewer because they get chewed up. Sam will sell you one if you are to lazy to go to a shop.
2You don’t have to worry about balance but if you don’t tighten the skewer enough you could fall off and then every body will laugh at you and act as if they care.  Then they will start laughing again.
3 Sometimes we stack the risers on top of one another and pretend we are riding up hill but we’re not and it is actually no harder at all.
4. Use a dirty cheap tire. Over inflate it. Watch how shiny it gets just before it over heats and explodes.
5  Use a low resistance and huge gears. Pedal as hard as you want to and everyone will think you are really strong. Also it helps to sweat  so splash water on yourself.
6. Refer to #5. If you are using a really low resistance the wheel will spin for a long time after you stop pedaling so you may have to feather the Brake or people will catch on.
7 Get there early so you can practice # 5&6
8 Don’t worry about the bike. They are all tougher than any rider.
9 Follow these guidelines and the class will seem to go by quickly.
10. Follow these guidelines and everybody will be trying to keep up with YOU.
The real truth is it doesn’t matter what you do. Remember the class is called WTF

Bob,
  1.  yes, they have rounded ends...available at every bike shop,
  2. No,
  3. no, the whole bike is raised a few inches (there is a riser for the front wheel),
  4. yes.  Cheap tire is a good idea,
  5. yes...resistance increases with speed,
  6. NO.  Do not use your brakes,
  7. at lease 15+ minutes to change, set-up bike, etc.
  8. No.
  9. 1 hour
  10. There are structured workouts, but you ride at your own pace.

Some questions, as never tried a trainer:

  1. Is a special quick release needed to fit in the trainer?
  2. Hard to balance?
  3. Is rear wheel raised up and is the bike tilted forward a bit?
  4. Do trainers wear out tires? (put on cheap tires?)
  5. Do trainers provide resistance?  If not, does one shift gears much?
  6. Use brakes as usual to slow down?
  7. How early should one arrive, especially on their first try?
  8. Are trainers hard on the bike?
  9. How long are the classes?
  10. Does one have to keep up with the class or just ride at their own pace?
