Hi Everyone,

SNEW logo.jpgWe hope you had a great Fourth of July holiday this past week.  It was surely warm enough to feel like summer.  Now everyone should be back home and we will be having our Slow ‘n Easy West Ride once again this coming Tuesday evening at Reed Webster Park in Camillus on Warners Rd..  Accuweather is forecasting “…Some sun …” but the high will be around 82 degrees.  No rain is in the forecast and it should clear during the night.  It looks like we will once again be blessed with nice weather for our ride.

We will once again have a choice of four rides that should fit just about all ability levels. For our most experienced riders, Tom Hotaling will be doing option #4, a 22 mile loop that will give them all a good workout.  If you want a map, you can find it on the club website.  Mike Lyon will be doing an intermediate level ride of 22-24 miles while Mark Perrin of The Bikery, with the able help of his volunteer leaders, will offer and all highway easy loop of 10-13 miles.  I will lead the beginners ride on the canal path and highway of around 10 miles for new riders.  I am sure one of these can work for you.  If in doubt on which to do, pick the easier ride and if it seems to easy, move up to the next level on your next time out.  All rides other than Tom’s advanced level ride are “no drop rides”…you will not get left behind.

Each week we welcome those who are new to the sport or have not ridden with a club or group previously.  If you are riding that same old loop around your development or have never ridden with a group, why not come out and ride with us.  We welcome guests and ask that you give us a try.  If you like what we offer, then you can join the club.  We can only allow our guests to ride once as a ‘guest’…our insurance limits this.  There is only one other small requirement to ride with us and that is you must wear a DOT approved helmet…no helmet, no ride.  I think of all those years I rode as a youngster without a helmet and I can’t help but think how lucky I was.  But, why trust to luck…use a helmet all the time when you ride.  I can tell you a good story about a helmet…ask me when you see me.

Here are the details for Tuesday’s ride:

   Where:  Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)

                                        When:    Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp;  sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM

                                        Bring:     Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;

   Dress:    Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this.  Be sure to have an approved helmet for the ride.  No helmet…no ride.  Our insurance requires this.

Mike and I have been leading these rides for nearly 10 years.  It never ceases to amaze us how excited folks can get after completing their first group ride. So, if you have been procrastinating coming out to ride, do it this week while the weather looks nice.  If you like it and join, there is still a lot of riding left in the 2018 season.  Check out our website for the ride calendar.

See you Tuesday night,

Tony
