Hi Everyone,

It’s Sunday again and we are looking forward to this Tuesday’s Slow ‘n Easy West ride once again. It has been pretty warm and humid over the last few day and Tuesday won’t change much. Accuwether is forecasting “…Mostly cloudy, a couple of showers and a thunderstorm; humid” ;the high will be 88 degrees. They did not say when the showers are expected…hopefully in the morning hours so that things will dry up for the evening ride. Watch for my late afternoon email.
We will meet at Reed Webster Park on Warners Rd (Rt 173) in Camillus and depart from there at 6:00 pm for the rides. Park at the west end lot near the tennis courts. We will plan on our usual 4 rides. Tom Hotaling is planning to do option #4, a 22 mile loop for experienced riders. Mike Lyon will do an 18-22 mile intermediate level route while Mark Perrin of The Bikery and his co-ride leaders will do an all highway loop with options for 10, 13 or 15 miles to cover our entry level riders. I’ll lead my usual canal path and highway loop of about 10 miles for the beginning level riders. All rides with the exception of Tom’s are “no drop” rides so you won’t get stranded. Last week was the first week Mark has extended his ride to 15 miles and there were some very positive comments.
You should fit in one of these groups so make a point of coming out to ride with us. Drag your bike off the rack, check the tires and come to the park. Not a member? No problem…come as a ‘guest’ and try it out. If you enjoy the group and the ride, you can go on line and sign up for a membership. There is still a lot of club riding left this season. Get off the couch and do something active like riding your bike. We won’t go too far so you won’t get very tired but you will get some needed exercise…your doctor will love it!
If you do chose to come you do need a DOT approved bike helmet to wear. You can get one at a local bike shop, sporting goods store or even a Walmart. They are not expensive if you don’t get fancy…they all do the same thing…protect your noggin. No helmet…no ride. Our insurance requires it. Also, don’t forget your hydration (water).
Here are the details:
Where: Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)
When: Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp; sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM
Bring: Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;
Dress: Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this. Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride. No helmet…no ride. Our insurance requires this.
Mike and I will probably be there around 5:30 to open sign-ins. If you come as a guest sign in on the “guest” sheet.
See you Tuesday if the weather co-operates,
Tony.
