SNEW logo.jpgHi Everyone,

Today is Sunday and Tuesday is only a couple of days away.  Start thinking about coming out to ride the Slow ‘n Easy West ride  this coming Tuesday, August 21st, at 6:00 PM.  We’ll be riding from Reed Webster Park in Camillus on Warners Rd. (Rt 173).  Mike Lyon and I are usually in the parking lot around 5:30 PM for sign-ins.  We plan to have our usual diverse mix of rides to hopefully cover all skill levels of those who come out.

The weather looks like it will be a hard one to call as of now. Accuweather is forecasting “…Mainly cloudy, humid; an afternoon shower or thunderstorm around” with a high of 76 degrees.  If the shower or thunderstorm comes early enough we may be OK. Look for my Tuesday afternoon email on what we plan to do.

Tom Hotaling plans to do option #6 this evening for a 25 mile experienced riders challenge.  Mike Lyon will be doing one of his intermediate level rides with a range of 18-22 miles.  He will probably have a map of the route but you can find Tom’s map on the club web site.  Mark Perrin and his crew will have an easy 10-13 or 15 mile all highway route for our less experienced riders and I will be leading a 9-10 mile canal/highway route for newer riders.  Other than Tom’s ride, the other three rides are all “no drop” rides…you won’t be left behind on a road you don’t know!

We always welcome guests. If you want to try this ride before our SnE season is over, come out Tuesday night and join us.  Our insurance only allows us to let guests ride once during the season.  If you like the ride and decide to join or you have yet to renew you membership from last year and wish to join or renew you membership you can do it on line:  https://onondagacyclingclub.org/about/join-now/   There is still plenty of riding left for the club in 2018.  Why not join and enjoy the late summer fall rides?

So, get that bike out of the garage or shed or basement and get it ready for a ride.  Dust it down and check the tire pressures, brakes etc to make sure it is road ready and come out to the park this Tuesday evening.  As I have said many times before, you don’t need special bike clothes or shoes…dress comfortably for the weather. One thing we do require is that you wear a DOT approved helmet on the ride.  You won’t be allowed to ride without one.  You can find one in any bike shop and in most sporting goods stores or big box stores with a bicycle department.  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get one unless you are looking for something glamorous or special.  You won’t regret coming out for a ride.  You’ll meet some great folks and have a lot of fun.  I look forward to meeting you.

Here are the details in summary:

                  Where:  Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)

                                        When:    Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp;  sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM

                                        Bring:     Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride;

   Dress:    Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this.  Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride.  No helmet…no ride.  Our insurance requires this.

See you all Tuesday evening,

Ciao,

Tony
