High everyone,
Tuesday will be here before we know it and with it another edition of the Slow ‘n Easy West rides. On this coming Tuesday, May 21st, we will once again
host our Slow n’ Easy West rides at Reed Webster Park in Camillus on Warners Rd (Rt 173) beginning at 6:00 PM. Come out to join the group and choose one of the 4 rides we offer every Tuesday during the season.
The weather has not been overly cooperative so far this season and Tuesday’s Accuweather is forecasting “Intervals of clouds and sunshine; windy, cooler…a high of 62 degrees”…not the best, but it may actually turn out to be nice for the ride.
If you are new to riding or getting started again and want to try riding with a group, why not come out this Tuesday and pedal with us? Dig out your bike and come out to ride with the group this week. We are looking forward to seeing you.
Check your tire pressures, brakes and dust off the cob webs to make sure your bike is ready to roll. You don’t have to be a member to try the ride. If you join us for the ride and like it then you can register as a member right on the club website using a credit card or PayPal…we try to make it easy to join. Just click here: : https://onondagacyclingclub.org/about/join-now/.
What we think makes this a great ride is the diversity we offer for riding skills. Aside from the basic canal loop (real easy), we also offer a 10 mile slow highway route (easy), an intermediate highway route of 18-20 miles (a somewhat faster and longer easy ride) and a challenging faster and hillier 20+ mile route for all those who want to go home tired (it will be a workout). Four different rides to pick from.
Tom Hotaling, who leads the “challenge” ride will be following option #5 this week for the group…the route is on the website. Print out a map for yourself. From beginner to very experienced, we feel we have you all covered. Be sure to come out. Other than the “challenge” ride, all of the other rides are “no-drop” rides…you won’t be left stranded by yourself.
If you plan to come, be sure to bring your DOT approved helmet and your water bottle for hydration. We can’t allow you to ride without a helmet…no excuses. If you were a 2018 member and have yet to renew, do so before the ride. Non- members and non-renewed 2018 members can only ride once as a guest during our season per the terms of our insurance. The season is just starting so now is the time to get signed up.
