Hi Everyone,

Another week of summer has slipped past and we are ready for the July 16th Slow ‘n Easy West ride once again.  This week’s ride is set for this coming Tuesday, July 16th leaving at 6:00 PM from the Reed Webster SNEW logo.jpgPark in Camillus on Rt 173. We hope you can join the group this week and enjoy this great ride.  Sign-in opens at around 5:30 PM.

Some folks have enquired about my whereabouts thinking I might be ill, but I assure you I am fine.  After 10 years of leading this ride every Tuesday, I guess I am just enjoying the freedom of not having to be somewhere every Tuesday evening all summer long.  I am also a director on the town historical society and that meets on some Tuesday evenings.  Also, there has been endless grass to mow this year which has just started to slow down.  You will see me before the season is over.  Mike and all the volunteer leaders are doing a great job…thanks!

The Accuweather is saying “…Times of clouds and sun” on Tuesday with a forecasted high of 92 degrees.  Should be good to ride J.  Bring water to stay hydrated.

Come on out and try the ride if you have not done so as of yet.  It’s a fun ride and you get to pick the ride you want to do.  We will have our usual choice of rides for those who join us.  In addition to a 10 mile real easy canal route we also offer a 10 mile slow, all highway route (easy), intermediate highway routes of 18-20 miles (more challenging and faster…Mike’s choice)  and a very challenging faster and hillier 20-25 mile route for all those who are looking for a biking workout.  Four different rides to choose from. Other than the “challenge” ride, all the rides are no drop rides.  You won’t be left behind. Tom Hotaling, our “challenge” leader will be using regular option #4, a 22 mile loop.  Check out the ride on the club website and print yourself a copy of the route or download the GPS if you want to try this one.

Come as our guest this Tuesday and see if you like it.  This ride is open to all guests as well as regular members of the club. (Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership from 2018…you are not a member and must sign in as a guest.)  Our insurance only allows us to have guests ride once during the season.  If you like the ride experience, join the club on-line or membership applications are available at rides. Remember, there are still a lot of OCC rides before the season closes…and hopefully we’ll have a nice mild and DRY fall.

All riders are required to wear a DOT approved bike helmet for these rides.  If you don’t have one, you can buy one at your favorite bike shop or sporting goods store.  No helmet…no ride...no exceptions…and our insurance requires it.

Here are the details in a nutshell:

Where:  Reed Webster Park, Camillus, NY located on Warners Rd (Rt 173) (lot on west end near tennis courts)

When:    Ride(s) leaves at 6:00 PM sharp;  sign-in starts at ~5:30 PM

Bring:     Your bike, an approved helmet, water bottle and a strong desire to ride; check tire pressures and brakes

Dress:    Whatever you are comfortable wearing on a bike… the weather will help dictate this.  Be sure to have an approved helmet to ride.  No helmet…no ride.  Our insurance requires this.

See you Tuesday evening.  If you have any questions, come a little early and speak with Mike.

 Ciao,

Mike and Tony
