I am the ride leader (paperwork gal) for the 9 am Labor Day ride out of Tully High School. Any labor that you will experience on this ride will be rewarded with some gorgeous views. The forecast right now is not good. So if it is raining I will just be the paperwork gal.
I will be riding the 29 mile route. The roads on that route are in good condition. E Homer-Baltimore is no longer rough they oiled and stoned it earlier this summer. The two rougher spots on this route are NY 91 after Tinker Falls and US 11.
I personally will make a few Reroute from the listed 29 mile route. You are welcomed to join me.
I will get off 80 quite a bit sooner- I will take a rt onto Markham Hollow Rd. off 80 then stay left onto Labrador Crossroad that brings you to a rt on 91. The only draw back is riders have to get off their bikes to walk across the railroad tracks on Markham Hollow, unless you're riding a mountain bike.
On the way back to the HS I will skip US 11. I will take a left at the bottom of E Homer-Baltimore and a quick rt on to Preble Road. Then a rt onto 281 for a very short time then a left onto Song Lake Rd. , Rt onto Lake Rd. a rt on 80 and a quick ride straight ahead through green light to the HS.
This will probably add a couple of extra miles to the route. but it beats the conditions of 11 and it's a beautiful tour around the 3 small lakes in Tully.
If you do the 29 route with me it will be a no drop ride. I will make sure everyone makes the turns.
I am not sure if there is anyplace to refuel on the 47 or 62 route. I know there is not on the 29. But there is plenty of places to refuel after the ride. There is Sweet Basil restaurant, Pizza and More, Blooming Cup Cafe/coffee shop, Corner Cafe and Scoops & More ice cream shop.
I will share my cell # with all on the ride Monday.
I have no maps to share.
Here's to a weather change for the better.
