Dang, hey, call out to OCC's 10-mile Time Trial, run by our beloved Brian Goetke....
Per Brian's report of the new "blacktop-surface-stoning" on the 1.3 mile stretch of Smith Ridge Rd. prior to the right-hand turn at 8.1 mile mark onto Black Cherry Rd. to scream to the finish of our beloved OCC 10-mile time trial course.....
Hey, HOW many volunteers, I'm in, would commit to bringing their heaviest vehicle to that 1.3 mile stretch of Smith-Ridge Rd. of our precious 10-mile time-trial course, to drive 20 mph or less on the right hand lane and shoulder, with flashers on, at least 5 or more times to increase its readiness prior to May 30, or at least for the entire summer season?
It's a rural road... smashing stone into it's asphalt following surface stoning takes months to make surface "friction-free from any surface stone", says me - a rural road bike-riding farm-boy growing up on a gravel / asphalt-gravel road, loathing after the asphalt was "stoned" to months later when it finally felt smooth on a bike....
Just sayin'... no records for anyone this season unless that 1.3 mi. stoned stretch is made smooth ASAP...

From: goetke1@PROTECTED I rode parts of the TT course last Friday and unfortunately discovered that Smith-Ridge has been stoned. That stretch is from the 6.8 mile mark to the 8.1 mile mark. I'll take a look to see well packed down it is next weekend. We may have to postpone the first TT until 5/30 if there are still piles of loose stone remaining this weekend.
I'll keep ya posted! In the meantime you can get inspired by the Giro D'Italia. Although, the weather has been horrible for several stages thus far.
Ciao!
