Club members -
While on a recent club ride, Robert Hanlon caught up with me to introduce himself and ask if I could pass on information about an important upcoming charity bicycle event.
With the club's permission, I am forwarding you his announcement of the fourth year of the Fistbump Fundraiser, a charity bicycle ride to raise money for those battling cancer.
If you are interested in participating or have additional questions, please email Robert directly at
robertthanlon@PROTECTED
Please consider riding for this great cause.
Thanks,
Peter
------------ 2024 FISTBUMP FUNDRAISER BICYCLE RIDE ANNOUNCEMENT ------------------
Greetings to you bike riders and volunteers who want to make a difference for those battling cancer! Our Syracuse chapter of the Exon 20 Group, operating under the umbrella of the International Cancer Advocacy Network (ICAN), invites you to participate in our 4th Annual Fistbump Fundraiser bike ride at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Please r.s.v.p. to this email if you intend to participate, either as a ride or a volunteer.
Details- Riders & volunteers will be added to the fundraising website participant list. A month from now, we'll send a follow-up email to kick off the fundraising efforts.
- Donation Website: https://askican.ejoinme.org/fistbump
- Please encourage others to join you, as either a rider or a volunteer, and to have them let me know. We'd love to grow!
- Please remind them that this is a fundraising bike ride, and participants will be encouraged to seek sponsorship in the form of donations from family, friends, and the companies they work for.
- We will ride from the Oran Community Church (here)
- We will depart as a group at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 22
- Route options: same as last year - - - 10, 16, and 30 miles. (No hills with 10 & 16, one long/steep hill just south of Delphi Falls with the 30. We hope to place a bagpipe player halfway up the hill for inspiration!)
- The after party (5:00 p.m.) for all participants and donors will be at Meier's Creek Brewing Company and sponsored by ComSource, Inc. (Thank you ComSource!!!)
- Riders: all forms of bicycles, including e-bikes, and approaches, including tag-teaming, are welcome! We encourage all who can ride to participate however you wish. No rules here other than safety & fun for a great cause.
Note:
The more challenging 60-mile route to Pitcher and back is no longer part of this official ride and will not be supported; however, given the fact that this would have upset Kevin greatly, those wishing to unofficially do the 60 mile option may certainly do so, with a recommended departure time of around noon. Let me know if this is you and I'll connect all who want to do this.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me (email address below).
As time passes, I'll be sending out follow-up emails, including the official fundraising kick-off email, in late July.
Thank you all,
The Exon 20 Group of Syracuse
