The issue becomes where to draw the line. In the case of air quality alerts, are rides canceled when the air quality reaches “Unhealthy for sensitive groups”? “Unhealthy” (with the recommendation that outdoor activity be limited, perhaps this means reducing the length of your ride?), “Very Unhealthy”? Keep in mind that if conditions are not favorable for you, you can opt not to ride. The ride leader can and should make the decision to cancel the ride in hazardous weather - such as thunderstorms and when the state recommends limiting outdoor activities due to hazardous air quality. The three riders all made it back after completing 24 miles. Only mishap I’m aware of was yours truly flatting halfway up Brinkerhoff. Some observations :-Unless you are putting down Peto Sagan watts, no, you will not slide off of Gulf Rd. in the wet-It doesn’t matter if you are running out-of-the-box new Gatorskins (I was), if a puncture has your name on it, you will change tires on the side of the road- I didn’t notice much about the air quality, except that it had the quality of water.
