Eleven riders came out to ride on an extremely humid morning. A kink in our morning was that route 80 had been waffled for paving. My group decided to do an adventure ride; we made up our route on the fly. It worked out pretty well. The 4 of us did 38 miles w/ a bit of climbing, 2 cyclist rode the 27 miles and 5 cyclist rode the 50 mile route. Everyone made it back save. One flat reported. I found out after the ride that one of the morning riders is new to the club. Fortunately a very generous member chose to ride ...Continue Reading

It was a very hot and humid evening but that didn’t stop at least one fast group from setting a blistering pace. 16 members and one guest braved the heat with rides ranging from 26-31 miles. It is getting dark pretty early so time to get out those lights for the evening rides! On Tue, Aug 24, 2021 at 1:13 PM Jeffrey Horst jhorst5@PROTECTED [occ2] <occ2@PROTECTED> wrote:__ From: jhorst5@PROTECTED All, I will be the ride leader for tomorrow evening’s Lafayette Rides. What a perfect evening for a Time Trial ! No hurricanes interfering, none of Mother Nature's chicanery, etc. The temperature was 82 degrees and the wind had settled to sub-4 mph from the NW. The course speed rating adjusted to a 9.1/10. Seven TTers rolled up to the start line with course busting intent. We would have had eight, but Kurt busted his spoke during his warm-up. Glad it didn't happen rounding a turn at high speed. Our Fastest Male h ...Continue Reading

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37277933Hi, above is the gps link for a 34 mile alternative route for this Friday’s ride. This gives us another option along with the 27 mile route that is down and back, the 50 mile route or the 53 mile climbing route. Though we probably won’t see too much foliage in August, I promise all the routes will have lovely country views. Hope to see some of you on the bike tomorrow. ~Teresa ...Continue Reading

We had a warm night but no threat of rain woopy!! Right now they are predicting another rain free Tuesday. There were 28 members and 1 guest who rode a total of 650 miles. Mike S’s group did a hilly 27 and got back slightly before sunset. We will likely have to shorten the rides next week since sunset will be around 7:40. Wow only a couple of more weeks of the SnE. Thanks to Ms. Nancy who supplied the riders with 2 kinds of zucchini bread and a watermelon ...Continue Reading

All, I will be the ride leader for tomorrow evening’s Lafayette Rides. Seeing as sunset will be at 7:51 PM I will assume that most folks will be doing the 26 mile ride. I have a suggestion for extending this a couple of miles.Instead of turning left on Apulia Road, we can go right, take the first left at Cascade, take a left when that ends (it is a short road) onto Clark Hollow and follow that across 20 where it becomes Dodge Road and brings us to Apulia where we would take a right and continue into Jamesv ...Continue Reading
