[occ2] Sunday 9/13 Ride Report

September 14th 2020 MDT

The weather forecast must have scared off all the riders.  Well they were right.  Two riders doing a total of 54 miles made it halfway thru the short ride before the clouds opened.  We still had fun, stayed together and made it home wet and safe.  Thanks for the fun ride Bill. ...Continue Reading

September 13th 2020 MDT

Fifteen riders came out on a perfect cycling day to ride a total of 573 miles. We are so fortunate to live in an area with such beautiful landscapes and variety of terrain. This is definitely a ride with options for cyclists of every level. I hope for an even larger turnout the next time it’s offered. Karen KellyJordan Hayes-- Karen Kelly ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Today's ride

September 11th 2020 MDT

Seven came to Preble to ride to Greek Peak, no one went on to Marathon and we all stayed together for the 44 mile route. Once we got past Cortland and into the country, it was pretty smooth and what a tailwind! But eventually we had to come back north. As the weather forecast promised, it was cool. My Garmin read 56 degrees when we got back. Once we got to the parking lot, the sun finally came out… sounds like another recent ride. Thanks to everyone who joined us today. Only four more Friday rides left!   ...Continue Reading

[occ2] 9-19 Saturday's Ride

September 11th 2020 MDT

The ride on Saturday, 9-19, is our annual charity ride (https://onondagacyclingclub.org/races-and-events/charity-ride/).  Due to COVID19 there are a few difference.  There will be food after the ride but not by the world famous chef Roland Pearson.  It will be boxed lunches.  This makes it necessary to have a number for the caterer by *_Thursday 5pm_*.  There are small changes to the 100, 62, and 37 routes.  The current map includes these changes.  As usual, the routes are well marked. ...Continue Reading

[occ2] road conditions

September 10th 2020 MDT

Been meaning to send this information for a week...Apulia Rd is now fully open in Jamesville village.East Lake Rd in Cazenovia is adequately surfaced now. As of last week, the lines were still not installed, but the road is wide enough that it is not a particular problem.New Boston Rd is still unlined, but is very smooth from just east of the railroad tracks until the Indian Opening Rd. And they paved what will be the shoulder, once the lines are drawn! ...Continue Reading

[occ2] chamois creams

September 10th 2020 MDT

OK. So here's a subject that only a cyclist would consider in an online forum. I have been using Udderly Smooth Chamois Cream. I used to use the regular Udderly Smooth unscented cream, but moved up when I discovered they actually made a product that they claim would work better for this purpose. It does, but it's not great. So I'm looking for alternatives to consider. If you have a favorite chamois cream, please share it with us, as well as where you purchase it.Thanks. Now I'm going for a ride and hope not to chafe.Stev ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Friday ride

September 10th 2020 MDT

I finally signed up for the Friday ride.  I was waiting to see what the weather would be, but they are saying it will be nice and on the cooler side.  Let’s hope. There’s a couple distances, 44 and 67; looks like a 50 mile ride can be done, too.  Anyone wanting to do the long ride, please do.  I’ll be waiting for you at Bob’s Barbeque.  We’ll try to find a way around Cortland without going through the middle of it. Hope we see you there… we leave at 10:00!  Bring your mask. & ...Continue Reading
